What Must Lalor, Armstrong, Faull and Hotton Prove in 2027?
Updated: Aug 26
Richmond has publicly grouped Sam Lalor, Harry Armstrong, Jonty Faull and Taj Hotton together as the nucleus of the team moving forward. That gives supporters something more specific to test in 2027.
But what should that test be? Games played? Role clarity? Physical development? Repeatable AFL traits? The way the team starts arranging itself around their strengths?
Do all four need to progress at the same rate? What happens if one develops much faster than another? How much should the club's public language change the patience normally afforded to young players?
And what would count as enough evidence next season to show that 'nucleus' is becoming something visible on the field rather than simply an optimistic label?
The full member feature works through what Richmond's own wording now asks the club to prove.
