How Do You Inherit Richmond When Richmond Is Thousands of Kilometres Away?

Christopher Green’s Richmond story begins with a famous football surname. His father, Michael Green, played in four Tiger premierships. That should make the inheritance simple. It does not.

The club had already entered through grandparents, family routines, dressing rooms and the long losing years that followed Richmond’s last Grand Final appearance of the old era.

Then distance changed the terms. Punt Road and the MCG were no longer places that could simply be visited every week, yet Richmond remained emotionally immediate.

What exactly is being inherited when Richmond can still feel like home from thousands of kilometres away?

The answer sits somewhere inside family, place and memory — and in the parts of supporting a football club that geography does not automatically remove.
