The harder 2027 question is no longer simply how many promising players Richmond owns.
Do the pieces fit the football Richmond wants to play?
What happens when the players are considered as combinations rather than names? Do the midfield options complement one another? Do the defenders create a stable enough mix of contest, intercept, run and coverage? Do the forwards give Richmond enough different ways to create and hold a contest?
Could several good players still be competing for the same function? Could one apparently strong line remain incomplete because a less glamorous job is unowned? And if that is happening, how would Richmond know before another season is spent finding out?
Talent is only one part of the list question
Richmond has early draft picks, developing talls, young midfielders, runners and established senior footballers. But which combinations make the intended game easier to execute? Which combinations become fragile when one player is unavailable? Which roles need depth rather than another headline name?
How should that change the way Richmond thinks about Pick 2, remaining list spots, mature recruits and selection? Should the next acquisition be judged by individual ceiling alone, or by what it allows the rest of the team to do?
And what does this ask of Adem Yze?
If the coach has a clear football model, how much of the next step is teaching the existing group to execute it, and how much is ensuring the list contains the right mix of functions in the first place? What would prove that the answer is becoming clearer during 2027?
The Public question stops there, because deciding which relationships work, which are duplicated and which functions Richmond still lacks is the job of the full member investigation.
