Why Does the Tom Stewart–Dion Prestia Moment Still Live So Strongly With Richmond Supporters?

RTSSG’s full member feature, "Remember When..." – A Tale of Elbows, Excuses, and Karma’s Clock, opens the evidence behind this question.

In Round 15, 2022, Tom Stewart struck Dion Prestia high after Prestia had disposed of the ball. Prestia left the game and Stewart was later suspended.

The incident occurred during a fierce Richmond-Geelong match at the MCG and quickly became more than an isolated football act in the memory of many Tiger supporters.

The next question

Why do supporters keep returning to this moment when so many other incidents disappear?

How much does rivalry, consequence and the player involved shape the memory?

When does remembering a football incident become part of club identity rather than simply grievance?

Those questions are where the Public version stops. The full RTSSG member feature follows the evidence through to the judgement: "Remember When..." – A Tale of Elbows, Excuses, and Karma’s Clock.
