Richmond Has Harry Armstrong Until 2029. What Does 2027 Need to Prove?
Richmond has already made one decision about Harry Armstrong: it is giving the young key forward time. His contract now runs through the end of 2029.
That protects the runway after two injury-interrupted seasons in which Armstrong has played only 12 AFL games and kicked seven goals. It also changes the question around his third year.
The issue is no longer whether Richmond should be patient. The club has already chosen patience. Nor can one simple goals target tell the whole story of a developing key forward playing inside a rebuilding side.
What evidence does Richmond actually need from Armstrong in 2027 before it can begin planning its future forward line with substantially more certainty?
