Why Does Adem Yze’s 2027 Judgment Start Before Round 1?

It would be easy for Richmond’s 2027 judgment to be delayed one week at a time. A Round 1 loss can be “only one game”. A rough first month can be explained by youth, combinations or injuries. By Round 8, two months of football can disappear before the real argument about progress even begins.

But Adem Yze’s opportunity to change Richmond does not begin with the first bounce next year. The largest uninterrupted block of coaching time is already here. So what should be different before Round 1 arrives? Which standards can reasonably be set during the offseason, what evidence should be visible in preseason, and which explanations should no longer be available once 2027 starts?
