Who Is Carrying Richmond’s Tackling Load?
Updated: Aug 30
The full RTSSG member feature, Two Men Are Doing Richmond’s Tackling, is the starting point for this Public investigation.
At the cited point of 2026, Jack Ross had 63 tackles and Tim Taranto 48. The next Richmond tier was Steely Green and Mykelti Lefau on 34, with Sam Grlj on 31. Richmond had also spent three seasons at the bottom end of the competition for pressure rating.
Is the important number the team’s tackle total, or how that work is distributed? What happens when one of the two leading tacklers is missing, tagged, fatigued or forced into a different role?
How many Richmond players need to become reliable pressure contributors before the behaviour stops depending on a small group? Does the answer sit in midfield rotations, forward roles, selection, conditioning or list construction? And what would a healthier spread actually look like in 2027?
The member feature follows the evidence further and resolves the question. Read the full RTSSG investigation here.
