Richmond played 13 matches at the MCG in 2026 and won two of them. The club will still give members access to eleven MCG games in 2027, and the ground remains central to the way Richmond sees itself.
That makes the obvious “fortress” line too easy. The harder question is what supporters should actually expect to see before the ’G starts feeling like Richmond’s ground again.
Is it a win target? Fewer blowouts? A repeatable way of trapping the ball? Better control when an opponent surges? A young side that knows how to close a winnable game? And by what point in 2027 does another season of reactive MCG football stop being explainable by the word rebuild?
