Richmond Has Improved Pieces Under Adem Yze. When Do the Pieces Become a Team?
Adem Yze inherited a brutally difficult rebuild: a premiership list ageing out, enormous experience leaving Punt Road, a deliberate youth shift and injuries repeatedly removing players Richmond most needed to assess.
Those circumstances still matter. They also cannot answer every question forever, particularly after Richmond extended Yze through the end of 2028.
There are components of Richmond’s football that have improved. Stoppage work moved. Young players developed. There were periods when Richmond could create pressure, territory and competitive football.
The unresolved test is what happens between those components. When should supporters expect the separate improvements to connect into a recognisable Richmond team rather than remain isolated signs of progress?
