Richmond appointed Adem Yze to move the club beyond the football of its premiership era. Three seasons later, the question is no longer whether he is a recently appointed coach. It is whether Richmond’s football is actually moving with the modern game.

The Tigers have worked on contest, stoppage, territory, defensive shape and faster ball movement. But improving individual components is not the same as connecting them into a system that repeatedly creates the next advantage.

So what would Richmond have to show in 2027 for supporters to know Yze is building new football rather than simply coaching a new generation of players?
